What you should know NOW about aging skin!

"The wrinkles started innocently enough: I’d smile and they’d appear at the corners of my eyes. Then overnight they were sticking around longer after I had stopped smiling. These changes didn’t happen as suddenly as they seemed. The first sign of aging starts happening when you are very young," says Mona Gohara, MD associate clinical professor of dermatology at the Yale School of Medicine.

As the reality of exhaustion and stress sets in, you will see the beginning of crow’s feet. Sleep deprivation leads to puffy eyes and dark circles, leaving small lines from the overstretched skin. That in combination of regular facial motions from squinting in the sun, drinking with a straw and smiling creates fine lines and wrinkles. Get a good eye cream with results driven ingredients to plump and tighten the skin, this will make fine lines less noticeable. Peptides are amazing to help promote collagen and elastin that will plump up the wrinkles. Hydration is essential when trying to combat aging.

You will start to see lines that are apparent when your face is in motion that includes glabellar lines (the “11” you get between your brows when you look angry or concerned) and frontailis lines (the horizontal ones you get when you look surprised.) Daily sunscreen is an absolute MUST as UV rays destroy collagen causing premature wrinkles, aging, dark spots, and cancer. A retinol night cream or serum can help to rebuild collagen under the skin, which will help to smooth lines on the surface.

The fat in cheek area begins to diminish, causing once plump cheeks to flatten. Use humectants to help boost volume. Skin care products that contain lactic and hyaluronic acids attract water and helps skin retain it for a plumper effect.

The neck and décolleté: the area which spans on the base of the jaw to the top of the chest. First issues you will notice are dark spots and crepey skin. You might also see horizontal wrinkles and vertical creases down the chest. Nightly application of retinol, creams that contain peptides, hyaluronic acid, hydrators and lightening products to help with inflammation and to fade dark spots will keep the skin looking supple.
